Dr. Annie Rachel Royson

Advisor

Dr. Annie R. Royson’s research lies at the intersections of translation, South Asian literature, religious studies, travel writing, and memory studies. She teaches literature and language at the School of Liberal Studies, Pandit Deendayal Energy University and holds a PhD in Translation Studies and Comparative Literature from the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. She recently completed her term as India Fellow 2022-2023 at the Mittal South Asia Institute, Harvard University. Her book, Texts, Traditions, and Sacredness: Cultural Translation in Kristapurāṇa is based on her doctoral research and was published by Routledge in January 2023. She is currently preoccupied with questions of translation, geography, and sacred soundscapes, and is almost always thinking about food.
